5 ways to maximise the space in your home

Does your home feel cramped and overwhelming? With these simple changes, you can make your home feel more spacious.

ONE - choose the right colours

Colour can have a significant impact on how a space feels. Lighter colours will help to make a room feel more open and airy. To create a seamless look, use the same colour on the walls, ceilings and trims.

TWO - use mirrors

Mirrors create the illusion of depth and reflect light, making a space appear larger. By placing a large mirror on the wall, your room will feel more spacious and inviting.

THREE - utilise vertical space

Create the illusion of height and a larger room by drawing the eye upwards. This can be achieved by hanging curtains high above the window, choosing furniture with a tall profile such as a bookshelf and a cabinet and incorporating a statement light fixture.

FOUR - choose multi-functional furniture

Choose furniture that can serve more than one purpose. A sofa bed can be used as a couch during the day and then converted into a bed at night. Similarly, a coffee table with hidden storage can provide additional space for storing books or other items.

FIVE - embrace minimalism

Declutter your home and only keep items that you really need or love. Create an organised environment to make your home feel less cramped and more spacious.
