Layout
Plan the layout carefully to make the best use of available space. If budget allows, this may mean changing up the location of plumbing lines and fixtures.
Lighting
Good lighting is essential. Look to use a combination of downlights, task lighting (for specific areas such as the vanity) and ambient lighting (for an inviting and relaxing space).
Storage
Adequate storage is essential to keep the space organised. Consider vanities with drawers, cabinets, shelves and built-in niches. Towel bars and hooks are also essential.
Vanity
This tends to be the hero piece. Consider the design but also the functionality. If the space is small, you may want to look at a wall-hung option or if you have a larger space, a double freestanding vanity might be the way to go.
Bath and shower
There are a number of different bath and shower configurations and this will be determined on the space and a carefully thought out floor plan. You may decide there is only enough room for a shower, but if you do opt for a bath, choose an option that doesn’t overpower the space.
Tapware
Determining the style (e.g. contemporary or traditional) will help when selecting your tapware. Consider the different finishes (brass, brushed nickel, chrome etc.). Don’t forget, there are also different mixers available (wall, basin, vessel etc.) and you need to ensure the sink tapware option you choose works with the basin you select as well.
Tiles
This can often be one of the hardest decisions as it often influences the whole design and style of the room. There are a number of different options (ceramic, porcelain, natural stone etc.) and it’s important to know the pros and cons of each.
